More Uses for Photoshop Smart Objects

We explored Smart objects earlier and taught you how to create one.  But just what can a Smart Object do?

Here are a few more uses for Smart Objects:

•     You can edit the original object by double-clicking the Smart Object thumbnail in the Layers panel.

•     You can replace the content of a Smart Object by selecting the Smart Object layer and choosing Layer > Smart Object > Replace Content.

•     Convert a video layer to a Smart Object by choosing Layer > Smart Object > Convert to Smart Object. The video will still play all frames. This allows you to run filters on the video layer and even maintain flexible editing to tweak a filter’s values. You can also use the Place command to add a video file as a Smart Object.

•     You can export Smart Object layers as individual files in order to work with them. Just choose Layer > Smart Object > Export Contents. A raster layer will create a Photoshop document and a vector file will create an Adobe Illustrator file.

Examine the Layer > Smart Object menu to explore other options.

After I originally left a comment I appear to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added-
checkbox and now each time a comment is added I receive 4 emails with the same comment.
Is there a means you can remove me from that service?
    Kudos!
